East Midlands Security Information ... |
|
|
|
|
| Liquids |
| |
| It has now been agreed that certain liquid goods may be taken onto the aircraft when carried in a passenger's hand luggage. However there are strict restrictions in place regarding packaging and quantity. |
| |
| Liquids are only to be carried in separate containers holding 100ml of each. |
| |
| Said containers have to be carried within a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag that is strictly no bigger than 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms) - see image below. Only one bag is allowed per passenger and this bag must fit securely within the passenger's hand luggage. |
| |
This clear bag must be removed from hand luggage at the East Midlands Airport security check points for separate inspection. |
| |
|
| |
| Any liquids that can't be placed inside this re-sealable bag will have to be packed within the passenger's main hold luggage. |
| |
| Liquids include the following goods: |
| |
- Drinks and liquid foods like water, soup, syrups
- Cosmetics like creams, oils lotions and perfumes
- Deodorant sprays and pressurized containers like shaving foam
- Toothpastes
- Shower and hair gels
- Any other such liquid solutions of a similar consistency
|
| Medication & Baby Food |
| |
Passengers needing to carry medication on their flight can do so in greater quantities than the 100ml.
Baby foods can also be carried in larger quantities.
However, each will be subject to inspection, and you may be required to sample such liquid goods. |
| |
| Hand Luggage - Size Allowed |
| |
| A passenger is allowed to take one piece of hand luggage onto the aircraft - this luggage must be no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. |
| |
| Wheelchairs and pushchairs are considered an additional piece of luggage that do require security screening. |
| |
| Electrical Goods & Laptops |
| |
Large electrical goods and laptops , if packed within hand luggage, need to be removed and screened separately at East Midlands Airport security points.
Do note that if you are carrying your laptop in a laptop case this counts as your one piece of hand luggage. |
| |
| Outsize Items |
| |
Items of luggage like musical instruments allowed onto the aircraft in addition to the one piece of luggage allowed. However these will also have to be security checked.
If the item is extremely large do contact your airline in advance of travel to check you won't have to purchase additional cabin space. |
| |
| Journey Preparation |
| |
| When planning to leave for the airport and considering what to pack in your hand luggage you are asked to consider the following advice: |
| |
- Limit your hand luggage to what you will actually need on your flight
- Try and place all liquid goods in the main hold luggage
- If you need to carry liquid goods in hand luggage you must prepare your re-sealable plastic bag in advance
- Additional queries should be raised with your airline before you fly
|
| Security At East Midlands Airport |
| |
- Have your plastic bag of liquids out of your hand luggage as you queue, ready for separate inspection
- In advance of approaching the security points remove any over clothes such as jackets and place metal items such as keys and coins in the trays provided
- Remove your electrical items or laptops from your hand luggage as you approach the check point
|
| Duty Free Purchases |
| |
| Should you make duty free purchases you are able to carry these onto the plane, even though they will be in greater quantities than the 100ml limit. |
| |
| Such duty free purchases will be presented in a sealed plastic bag. Do not remove from this bag or break the seal until you have reached your final destination. And keep hold of the receipt for proof of purchase at transfer points. |
| |
| There are restrictions that apply to duty free purchases made on return journeys where passengers change flights at an EU airport - these are detailed below. |
| |
| Return Flights To The UK, Or Via The UK |
| |
| Travelling from an airport in the EU, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland: |

| |
| Travelling from an airport in any other country: |
| Local Arrangements apply. |
| |
Transit Passenger Information |
| |
| If you have to change flights at any EU airport there are special restrictions that apply to liquid goods - |
| |
- they have to conform to requirements for passengers departing from EU airports as set out above; or
- they need to have been purchased airside at another EU airport, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this.

East Midlands Security ... |

|
To get into the Departure Lounges all passengers have to pass through the airport's security control. This is where boarding cards and passports are inspected, as will hand luggage and passengers.
All coats and jackets need to be removed and placed on the conveyer belt so they can pass through the X-ray machine. Please place all keys, coins and other such metal items in the trays provided, and place onto the conveyer belt.
Passengers then need to walk through the x-ray machine. Passengers who are fitted with a pacemaker should make the security staff aware so a hand search can be carried out. A hand search will also be carried out on wheelchair bound passengers. Whilst the x-ray machines are safe for pregnant women they too can request a hand search.
At random passengers may be picked out for an additional hand search. |
